Welcome to Vlog Central!
Videoblogging Service (formerly known as vBlog Central)
Vlog Central is a service that makes it easy to post video (and audio and pictures) to your existing blog. We host your video content and display it in whatever format your users want. It's transparent and easy.
Videos, even low quality ones, make a blog much more interesting. When you put video in your blog you get a videoblog, or vlog, for short. They are also known as vidblogs, vBlogs, or vogs.
This video was made by one of our alpha testers, Citizen Journalist Steve Garfield, during the recent Boston primary election. You can read his original blog post for a brief introduction and to see what people had to say about his video.

to Vlog Central

Alpha Test Improvements
Our apologies to those on the alpha test waitlist for the extended wait, but the early alpha testers have done a very good job and given us a ton of feedback. We have addressed many of their issues and are building a framework for addressing the remainder. We are expecting a new release Real Soon Now™ and will be enabling more alpha accounts at the time. Stay tuned...

Comments Disabled
Due to online poker spambots, we've disabled posting new comments to the site until we can upgrade to newer blog software that provides protection from 'comment spam'. In the meantime, please send us feeback via e-mail. Thanks!
Via Dan Gillmor's blog, I just found a decent explanation and history of the comment spam problem.

Alpha Coming Next Week
Welcome vBloggers! It looks like Yancy blew our cover and we are beginning to get traffic and account requests from around the world. We will create accounts for a small number of alpha testers by the end of next week.
If you'd like to sign up, please use your real name on the request form. In the comment field tell us about your blog, what tools and format(s) you are using to produce your video, and why you would be a good tester. We will not be able to create test accounts for everyone immediately, but we will add more users with each round of testing.
During alpha the service will be free, but storage and bandwidth will be limited.
We're excited to see such strong interest in our service and are looking forward to getting your feedback!

Pre-Alpha version online!
We're happy to announce the creation of vBlog Central. For almost as long as there have been blogs, there has been a desire to add rich media to them. Unfortunately, adding audio/video content to blogs has been difficult at best.
vBlog Central changes that with a simple, but powerful solution that will work with your existing blog. We let users view the content in the format they choose and we give you online video storage and management.
